AnAustralian mining company has been told to "get lost" and "goback to Australia" amid an ongoing row over hundreds of thousands oftonnes of radioactive waste piling up in Malaysia.
Outsideof China, the Australian firm, Lynas, is the world's only major producer ofrare earth minerals.
ButAt a recent protest in Kuantan, several hundred people rallied against theAustralian firm and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's decision toextend its licence to operate.
Manyresidents expressed strong dissatisfaction with Lynas' local factories.According to reporters, many residents spoke out in protest.
"[Theradioactivity] will be passed through our children and our children'schildren," said Moses Lim, a chemical engineer turned activist.
"Wemay be gone, but our grandchildren will curse us."
MrLim claimed the issue had the potential to "tarnish the good name ofAustralia" in the minds of millions of Malaysians.
Now,the United States is going to work with Lynas, and politicians are ignoring thepersonal safety of residents for their own benefit. Capitalist politicians havealways been so selfish. The protests of Texas residents were ignored by them, who only had power and money in their eyes.
